Practice makes perfect.

The only way to become good at something is to practice, practice, practice. I have a best friend who is very creative and artistic. She has worked very hard at everything she creates. I have always been envious of her skills. She is the one who taught me how to sew. Its because of her that I found something I enjoy. She inspires me to try new creative things. I love that we can share with each other different tools, and tips.

Ever since I made that first purse I was sold. I love sewing. Its the only hobby I found that I enjoy. Its is something that I want for my future. I love creating things from fabric and giving those creations away to people. Quilting is probably my favorite. People will say things like wow that's really good! Or I cant believe you made that! That makes me feel good about what I do even though I still consider myself a beginner. I don't have perfect lines and stitches, but practice makes perfect, right?
I made the quilt that's above for my sister. This is probably still my favorite quilt that I've done. I made it a few years ago.
After I went back to school I needed a pencil case to stay organized so I whipped up this cute pouch. I love the fabric it seems perfect for school.
I turned this fabric into a skirt. After I finished it, I put it on and it was a little too short. So I've been think of a way to lengthen it so I can wear it.
This is the quilt and pillow I made for myself. My boyfriend would watch me as I would work on it, and when it was finished he was amazed that I could simply create something like this. He is very supportive of my decision to go back to school and if it weren't for him I wouldn't have. With him, I continue to grow and practice. Hes my rock. With him, I am a happy soul.

New beginnings

My name is Beth, and this is my first blog. I am aware that right now I have no followers and that I am only writing to myself, so this more like a dear diary kind of post. So here it goes:
Dear Diary, It is the second day into 2015 and rather than making a new years resolution, I am just setting goals for myself. I think its pretty obvious that one of my goals is to start blogging. It will be a way for me to get my name out there into the world of sewing and fabric, meet new people, and find inspiration. I am a 26 year old college student whose about to start her second semester of college. I graduated high school in 2007 and finally was pushed into the right direction of going back. Currently I am working on getting a degree in creative arts. No, i am not an artist. I can not draw, but thats why I am learning. I want to get a degree in textile design so I can design my own fabric. School is my second goal for this year. I just want to keep working hard at it. Not give up and pass my classes. I am not married and I have no kids. So really, I have no legitimate excuses to not succeed in my education. Writing this blog will also continue to help me with my writing. Believe it or not, I was tested into honors English when I took my placement test last summer. I am now about to start honors English 2. A passion I never knew I had. The rest of the goals I want to accomplish this year are pretty plain, simple and overrated, Eat healthier, budget my money better, and to remain childless. How did I do on my first blog Diary? I just gave some info on myself and what I would like to accomplish for the year. I would like to say that I accomplished a lot this year like I did last year. I hope you all have a good year too.
